Ok What really,really,really makes these films work,is that Takashi Yamazaki and Kazuaki Kishida put a lot of emphasis on quality over quantity,so that the action and fights scenes do not merely turn into just silly spectacles that overstay their welcome,as they are focusing just as much on the quieter moments with the character developments to build up the stakes,so that audiences can become invested with and care about the characters who’s lives have been affected by the Kaiju and WWII. It was just as good,if not,better than the first. The special effects look dirty and real. This installment is a lot darker in tone,so you really see why it got it’s R rating. 4 out 5 on Letterbxd is how I would rate it.

First act (45 mins) AMAZING!!! It made me want to watch the first one AGAIN!!! Then it takes a nose drive completely DESTROYED Godzilla Minus franchise. I left confused not knowing who's good/bad or to root for and HATING the couple with kid from 1st film. WORST PARENTS EVER!!! 2nd act was way too busy with many characters going in and out. 3rd act a hot mess with them trying to connect all loose ends. Too many chefs not enough stew.
