I’m Afghan and have a natural unibrow too, along with two of my siblings (ironically neither of my parents have one, but some of their siblings and relatives do). I think it’s kind of silly that unibrows are strictly associated with MENA+central and south asian people, as there are several notable people who are from entirely different regions and backgrounds that naturally have unibrows, including Tupac, Björk, Brooke Shields, Megan Fox, Elizabeth Gillies, Lily Collins, etc. People living in Western regions, like the celebrities I just listed, tend to pluck their eyebrows to adhere to Western beauty standards, whereas people in other regions are more likely to leave them as they are. I feel like unibrows and general hairiness are considered “ugly” according to Western beauty standards because these standards are, on the whole, misogynistic, Eurocentric and white-supremacist. In certain literature and media, black and brown people are visually and behaviorally likened to stereotypical cavemen, which is to say they’re often depicted as being hairy, brutish, and “uncivilized”. These portrayals feed into the dehumanization and “othering” of black and brown people, which aids in justifying and affirming Western imperialism, colonialism and white supremacy. Btw you are SO beautiful mashallah, you look a lot like Sade! ❤️
