Academic institutions should be the ones under fire for that robbery like why is college so expensive anyways? Y’all are always mad but have no solutions.

What we know about Jimmy so far— Jimmy’s initial test results have given us some answers but not all of them. An aspirate was taken from his mass and submitted for cytology where a pathologist examined the cells under a microscope. It wasn’t definitive but it narrowed the possibilities down to a few diagnoses. Right now, the leading concern is plasmacytoma, with another possibility being transmissible venereal tumor (TVT). Both require very different treatment plans so we’re still waiting on additional testing. Jimmy’s bloodwork is overall good. He is heartworm positive, his fecal test was negative and his bloodwork showed an elevated globulin level with increased protein in his urine which could fit with a systemic disease process. If this is plasmacytoma, it’s not considered curable but it’s often responsive to chemotherapy and/or radiation and many dogs do well with ongoing treatment. If it’s TVT, surgery is not recommended and treatment would look very different. Because of the uncertainty, he’ll be seeing oncology early next week. While we wait, Jimmy is undergoing a CT scan today to help us better understand what’s happening. That scan alone is estimated at $3,500–$4,000, but it will be a critical piece of the puzzle in determining the best path forward for him. Jimmy is estimated to be under 5 years old. He does have some minor skin issues and gunky eyes, but those are common with strays. He is a nervous boy and has been scared to walk for the staff but he’s very food motivated and gentle.
