How selfish can you get? Your father work for years to earn his pension, so he would be able to live with dignity when he retires. You were totally wrong to even ask him for that money!

Your dad’s absolutely correct. An expensive wedding is a luxury if you can afford it.

if all your Dad has saved is 500,000 he is a long way from having enough saved. He's doing his best to not be a burdon on you. You should thank him.

Not every parent will go for this, my wedding maybe cost 300.00😂 we still talk about it 43 years later. Sometimes it’s not about all that money, it’s about who you love, and who showed up❤️

Launch your OWN future! Your parents do not know how long they will live or how much money they will need! Pensions and retirements are for a reason.

If you can't afford it, don't do it. $45k for a wedding is ridiculous.

Pure vanity! a marriage license cost less than $100 and need 2 witnesses. The rest is pure vanity and useless expense. Imagine instead to put your $45.000 into a new house for newly weds? you have it for life. If on your wedding plans... "end of day, end of money" and a debt for years to come.....
