How to use Claude properly: the 4 walls most people hit (and the one unlock for each) How to use Claude for your business, step by step. Most people pay for Claude every month and use it like a more expensive Google: one question, copy the answer, close the tab. There are four walls you hit, and one unlock for each. In the video it's a made-up dog grooming salon; the Claude answers, the spreadsheet, the plan and the Monday draft are real outputs. 1. Wall 1, generic answers. Unlock: context. Tell Claude who the customer is, what you sell, what you can spend and what good looks like. Attach the real thing instead of describing it (price list, the last email that worked, a photo of your whiteboard), and ask it to ask you questions before it answers. 2. Wall 2, every chat starts from zero. Unlock: a project. In ChatGPT or Claude, open a project and write one page of project instructions: what you sell, who buys it, your prices, how you talk to customers. Add your files (price list, the emails that worked) to the project. Every chat in that project starts already knowing all of it. Then ask for the finished file: an Excel spreadsheet with working formulas, a PowerPoint deck, a Word document. 3. Wall 3, you're the middleman copying and pasting. Unlock: connectors. Connect Gmail and Google Calendar so Claude can tell you what needs a reply and draft the ones that matter. Give Claude Cowork one folder on your computer: it reads what's there, shows you its plan, and does the job once you say yes. 4. Wall 4, the same job every week. Unlock: a Claude skill. Get the job right once, save it as a skill, then make it a scheduled task (every Monday at 8 a.m.) that pulls the numbers, runs the skill and drafts the update before you open your laptop. You read it and send it. Pick the wall you're stuck on and set that one up today. Works for salons, trades, agencies, consultants, clinics, shops, bookkeepers, any small business owner using Claude, Claude Pro or Claude Max for real work.
