@jodie_lynnofficial: Replying to @Nikki Ferrier Nicole was initially diagnosed with a complex tic disorder, then Tourette’s just under a year after her tics started. Our support? A link to an NHS website. That was it. As a parent, it can feel incredibly lonely. Facebook groups help many people, but they’ve never been my thing and that’s okay too. Tourettes Action have been fantastic, especially with information and support around Nicole’s education when she was younger. ❤️ My Instagram inbox is always open. I’m human too and sometimes get overwhelmed, so if I haven’t replied, please try me again. You’re not being a nuisance. ❤️ #tourettes #tourettesawareness #tics @TourettesAction
Our GP referred my son to neurology and they declined the referral and now we have been referred to CAMHS. He has been ticing since he was around 5-6 years old his now 10 and it had progressively got worse x

My 15 year old daughter is waiting to be assessed by a Tic consultant. She woke up on the 17th September and started with motor tics then on the 22nd September started with vocal tics. They are changing and developing daily. She is now doing both motor and vocal tics daily.

The NHS system isn’t great. I got diagnosed with autism at 14 and was put on a waiting list for 2 years for ANOTHER diagnoses. My cousin, was diagnosed at 2 and his section diagnoses was also at 2. It’s so confusing

Thank you so much for replying. I had the same with the NHS link🙄 hes had the visual and motor tics for 2 years and they just seem to get worse. He jerks his neck and snorts atm and it causes nose bleeds and neck pain. constantly being told it will go away but its got worse! we seem to get use to one and a new one appears. Thank you for taking the time to reply. I will look further into Tourettes action as the GP and cahms did mention those x

I know for my motor tics, I was referred to neuropsychology for cognitive behavioural intervention for tics by my consultant neurologist, I did feel that in some way it did help, but some of the coping mechanisms did tend to trigger.

I applied for pip for multiple reasons and I have autism diagnosed at 17 and a half and in the assessment paperwork the pip person put down multiple times “despite a diagnosis of autism there is no support or treatment in place” …. What support does an out of education 17 year old actually get guess what ITS NOTHING no therapy and you can’t ‘treat’ autism

the tourette's action events are great by the way! it's amazing as someone with tourette's to get to meet other people like me, in an environment where we are all safe and supported, and we get to do loads of fun things that a lot of us normally wouldn't get to do (like archery, high ropes, zip wires, etc.)

the NHS system is horrible for tourettes when I was young I was at first diagnosed with unspecified tic disorder and told to come back after 12 months to change the diagnoses to tourettes and when i came back and tried to get a referral for a updated diagnoses my gp had heard nothing about it and didn't know what to do when I finally got a referral and a tourettes diagnoses I also just got a link to a website but you and Nicole are both very strong for dealing with everything as well as everyone else who has been through tics or even just the NHS system

How long did it take to get a diagnosis? I was reffered to a neurologist months ago after telling my gp my tics were getting worse and I suspected it was more than anxiety tics and that it could be Tourette’s instead and I’ve heard nothing since being reffered
