the only way of proper parenting.. you can scold your kids when it's necessary but first make sure they are safe.. fighting over little things makes kids silent about the big ones..

my parents always said they didn't care what I did as long as I was safe and with people I trusted, if I needed an out they would, and if my friends needed help they were always welcome. Theyve driven friends home, let them crash over, let them stay and ground themselves to work out what to do next.

I mean hiding it from the other parent or not knowing your kids would call you if they ever got into a situation like this or being in a car accident etc yeah it might not be a call you want to hear especially if everything had gone wrong but in the end what’s important is that they know they can trust you if anything ever did go seriously wrong that you’d be by their side when they need it most
