As he celebrated his victory, he trolled Vice President JD Vance, noting the "delicious irony" that Vance must swear El-Sayed into office come January. In speeches on the campaign trail, Vance had said El-Sayed would burn down the city of Detroit if elected, comparing him to the rioters in Paris. President Trump had taken to calling El-Sayed a jihadist during his campaign stops, referring to him as "Mohammed."
