This is a perfect example of someone who has a surface-level, conceptual understanding of spirituality but mistakes that understanding for lived experience. Knowing how to explain a spiritual concept and actually embodying the consciousness behind it are two very different things. Yes, our parents pass down their understanding of the world, but when you genuinely experience who you are beyond the mind and embody the wisdom of unity, you realize you are not obligated to continue creating from the understanding you inherited. You don’t have to judge or shame your parents for where they are, but you also don’t have to adopt their beliefs or repeat their patterns. You can honor them while choosing to break the cycle. And unity doesn’t mean forcing relationships. If you can be in someone’s presence without resentment, judgment, or being pulled out of your I AM consciousness, that doesn’t mean you have to desire a deeper relationship with them. Sometimes you can simply meet someone with unconditional love, recognize where they are in their understanding, and realize there is nothing more for you to create in that particular dynamic. You can love someone without needing constant proximity or manufactured connection. Not having a relationship with your parents doesn’t automatically mean you still have healing to do. Sometimes healing is precisely what allows you to love someone unconditionally while exercising your free will to choose not to participate in a dynamic that no longer serves your growth. Unity doesn’t mean having no boundaries. It means you no longer need to judge someone to choose a different experience for yourself.

I’m sorry, but I disagree this time. Maybe the way to break the karmic cycle of going around in circles is precisely to find the strength to walk away from a toxic relationship with our parents.

My parents are the most unemotional people I’ve ever met. Both of them are completely avoidant. We don’t have a bad relationship but we don’t see each other or communicate regularly and it’s that way with all of my siblings

But what if they abandon you when you’re a kid? My parents hated each other so much that abandoned me. They went and started new families with different people. 😂 I still talk to my dad but my mom’s a lost cause.

this just isn’t true for everyone. when you choose to break cycles you also have the choice to step away from them if they are still living in the cycles you’re breaking. getting triggered by them is one thing but saying that you need to have a relationship with them? just not true at all.

My parents were young 15 & 18. I was abandoned by both at a young age to drugs/alcohol. My grandma raised me until eventually, I had my 10th birthday at a CPS office and was given to my father. He Abused and neglected me my entire childhood. Locked in a room with alarms on my windows and doors, I had to knock to use the restroom, and only allowed out to clean up after the rest of my family. I couldn’t even eat with them, i was served peanut butter sandwiches in my room. I was beat until I started screaming and then suffocated in attempt to hush my crying. When my mother finally “got me back” I was allowed to do whatever so I wouldn’t inconvenience her drug use. With this freedom, I also became pregnant at a young age and had my oldest at 15 years old. I navigated motherhood at a young age the best I could. Eventually after a separation with her father I got on drugs and went into a psychosis. & As “bad” as my experience was with drugs I am truly grateful for it. Without it I would have never had my awakening. I got clean and began my journey with shadow work. I began seeing why I experienced what I did. Because without it I would not be the present and loving parent I am today. I’ve integrated and found balance in the way I’ve parented from each of my parents. I’ve told both of them this and even thanked them for it. Now my babies get to have something I never did. I see the bigger picture, and have forgiven them. I have no ill intentions towards them. My father is passed now unfortunately, and my mom actually texted me while typing this. Seeing this post made me tear up because I hope that I’ve successfully cleared that debt.

you can work through it and heal and be at peace within and still choose no contact and love them from afar. you don't need to choose to have a narcissistic parent in your life if it takes your peace away and drains you, its ok to go no contact and wish them the best and not harbor any resentment or I'll will or unforgiveness in your heart for them. just except that is who they are and they won't change but you can always learn and grow but they never will.
