Replying to @fortunatetalisman “The Bible WE gave you”? That assumes something history—and Scripture—do not establish. The Roman Catholic Church did not author the Old Testament. God entrusted His oracles to the Jewish people (Romans 3:2). Jesus Himself appealed to “the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms” (Luke 24:44). And the apostles were preaching Christ and writing the New Testament long before later church councils formally listed its books. As I explain in the video, Daniel 9 contains the 70-week prophecy—490 prophetic years pointing to the Messiah. That prophecy was written CENTURIES before the Roman Catholic Church existed. Scripture’s authority doesn’t begin with Rome. It points to JESUS. Now, about those supposedly “removed” books: the Old Testament canon was debated centuries before the Protestant Reformation. Jerome, the translator of the Latin Vulgate, distinguished the books of the Hebrew Bible from writings later called deuterocanonical. Augustine disagreed. In 1546, the Council of Trent reaffirmed the Catholic canon. Protestants followed the Hebrew canon for the Old Testament; even the original 1611 King James Bible printed the Apocrypha in a separate section. That is a much more complicated history than “you stole books from our Bible.” Yes, Christians preserved, copied, translated, and recognized biblical writings. That work matters. But preserving a document is not the same as inspiring it. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God” (2 Timothy 3:16)—not by the authority of a pope or council. So here’s my question: Will you let Scripture test church tradition, or insist church tradition gets the final word over Scripture? (Mark 7:7–9; Acts 17:11) Jesus Christ is the authority. His Word is the standard. And as usual, it’s not my opinion, it’s the Advent Truth! 🌐 www.theadventtruth.com #Jesus #BibleStudy #Protestant #SeventhDayAdventist #TheAdventTruth
