An Engineer Built an "Alien Machine" in the California Desert In the middle of the California desert stands a strange, gleaming white dome, built entirely of wood, without a single metal nail. And the man who built it swore he did it on the direct instructions of aliens. From the planet Venus. 🛸 This is the Integratron. His name was George Van Tassel, and he was no crackpot loner, he was a respected aircraft engineer who'd worked for Lockheed, Douglas Aircraft, and even as a test pilot for Howard Hughes, until in 1947 he walked away and moved his family to the remote Mojave to live beneath a colossal boulder called Giant Rock, said to be the largest free-standing boulder on Earth. Then in 1953, Van Tassel said, everything changed: he claimed a spaceship landed and a being from Venus woke him, invited him aboard, and telepathically handed him plans for a machine that could recharge the body's cells, reverse aging, and add decades to human life. So he got to work, and using what he called the alien blueprint mixed with the theories of Nikola Tesla, he spent 18 years building the Integratron, a giant domed structure made entirely of wood with zero metal, because metal, he insisted, would interfere with the energy. And people believed him, as Van Tassel hosted enormous UFO conventions at Giant Rock that drew crowds of up to 11,000 true believers into the desert. But he died suddenly in 1978 before ever finishing it, taking the secret of how to switch it on to his grave. To this day his bizarre wooden dome still stands, and while it never made anyone young again, it turned out to have one very real, uncanny power: incredible acoustics. So today people travel from all over the world to lie inside the "alien machine" and bathe in its otherworldly sound. Comment "Venus" if you'd visit it, and tune in with California History, where the desert hums with the strangest dreams. ✨ #CaliforniaHistory #Integratron #GiantRock #Mojave #History
