@anyi.manchester.u: 🚨 Thierry Henry on Jude Bellingham’s equaliser against AEK Athens: “Someone in the studio said to me, ‘That’s a bad cross. Jude’s made it look good.’ I said, ‘All right, leave the cross where it is and show me where you want Jude to be.’ He pointed a little further back. I said, ‘Okay. Now who gets there first?’ He looked at the screen again. ‘The defender.’ Exactly. Watch Jude as Cucurella gets his head up. He gets across his man expecting the ball in front of him. It comes a little behind him, and if he checks his run to take a touch, the defender he’s just beaten gets another go at him. So he keeps moving and uses his heel. The presenter asked me, ‘You think Cucurella meant for him to do that?’ I said, ‘If I’m Cucurella, I’m telling him at half-time, “That’s exactly where I meant to put it.” And if I’m Jude, I’m saying, “I know, Marc. That’s why I had to use my heel.”’ But I know that feeling as a forward. You’ve got half a second to try something you’ll spend the whole walk back to the halfway line explaining if it goes wrong. I’ve had teammates tell me, ‘Just take a touch next time.’ Sometimes you nod because you’ve missed and you don’t feel like arguing. But you know what you saw. By the time you take that touch, the chance is gone. And that’s what I loved about Jude there. Madrid are a goal down away from home. He can let it go and tell Cucurella, ‘A little further in front next time.’ Everyone watching would see the ball behind him and say fair enough. He still thinks he can score. And if I’m Cucurella walking down that tunnel, I’m saying to him, ‘Keep making that run. I’ll find you again.’ Because once you’ve seen a teammate do that with a ball behind him, you start wondering what he’ll do when you put one exactly where he wants it. Half an hour in, you’re a Madrid fan sitting there thinking, ‘Who’s going to get us back into this?’ Now it’s half-time and you’re thinking, ‘Get it out to Marc again. I want to see what Jude does this time.’” [ This is the source @ChinoUTD ]#realmadrid #athens #realmadridfc #creatorsearchinsights #capcut
