I think it’s the cognitive dissonance that really bothers us. We have perceptions of all of these people in our minds, even if only subconsciously, and we don’t like when those perceptions are challenged. When Kris Jenner gets work done, it aligns with our perceptions. But when someone like JLaw, who people perceive to not care about looks and be more “real” than other celebrities, gets work done, it forces us to re-examine thee long-held beliefs about her. And more broadly, it’s an uncomfortable reminder that people are ultimately complex/multifaceted/inconsistent, and we don’t like that lol

it doesn’t make sense when people whose looks are so central to their job *change their appearance*. the really perplexing one is actors *deliberately* paralyzing their faces.

Or is it that your examples are of men vs women? Men are allowed to be horrible, but women aren’t even allowed to have plastic surgery without being judged? Women are always held to a higher standard.

It's always been this way, in any prodigal son type if situation. Just like the straight A student is expected to do well and the bad student is praised for being mediocre.

because we live in a time where we are always being watched and subliminally advertised. People prefer the deceit to be straightforward. Theres nothing they can do about it, but at least they expect it.

I think it bothers people bc she sells herself as a “normal girl.” People get reallll bent out of shape when relatable celebs do something that reminds them they’re rich and famous. But IMO, she’s still a normal girl! She just has the means and job where she wanted to get work done.

I mean isn’t part of it that you like their face and then all of a sudden they have a different face? Like no judgment on Lawrence or anyone for getting work done but like it’s a bit strange when it’s not just anti-aging, it’s wholeass different face….
