To be fair, they don't teach you to abandon yourself .....they hold their boundaries firmly and others choose to abandon themselves to win over the avoidant. When we teach people that avoidants "condition you" it takes away the agency of people who are choosing to stay. Avoidants are given far more power than is necessary.
