@smarteruk: The judge who ran the Infected Blood Inquiry was asked by the House of Lords whether anything he found was a threat to our democracy. Sir Brian Langstaff said yes. He told the Constitution Committee that people were misled by words parliamentarians used, words given to them by civil servants, and that documents went missing, some of which he concluded had been destroyed, "all to support a line to take." For context: NHS patients were given blood and blood products infected with HIV or hepatitis C between 1970 and 1991. His inquiry's final report came out in May 2024. Trust in government depends on the public being told the truth, and on decisions being made in the open where people can test them. Who should be held to account when the public is misled? 👇 Continuous excerpt, not condensed. Every problem is an :
It is time that people who do this, especially civil servants were severely punished, until that happens it will never stop
