This video will always stop me in my tracks. 🥹🤍 Back in 2018, my Lolo—Atty Jesse Castro—was honored on the Seattle Seahawks field as one of only a few living Filipino World War II Veterans alongside several others. Seeing this video and watching him there on Lumen Field, representing a generation that sacrificed so much yet waited decades to be fully recognized… it still gives me chills. Filipino WWII veterans fought alongside U.S. forces, answered the call without hesitation, and carried that service quietly for most of their lives. For so long, their stories were overlooked & systematically denied their promised benefits. Moments like this mattered—not just for recognition, but for dignity, healing, honor, and truth. Watching this video and seeing my Lolo be honored in front of thousands on that field, with his head held high—knowing how much he endured, how much he gave, and how deeply he loved his family and community—fills my heart with so much pride and gratitude. This video isn’t just about football. It’s about legacy. It’s about remembrance. It’s about making sure our elders are seen while they are still here. Forever grateful for moments like this. Forever honoring our Filipino veterans. 🇵🇭✨ And forever grateful to Tita Thelma Sevilla, Tito Oscar Hilman, Tita Zenaida Crisostomo and everyone who fought for decades for this recognition to finally happen — nearly 75 years later. 🥹❤️🇵🇭🇺🇸💫 Mabuhay kayo. We carry you with us always. And gives me goosebumps, because that very painting created during the honoring of my grandfather and other WII FIlipino Veterans was the backdrop for the honoring we gave to @seahawks VP of Outreach & External Affairs Mike Flood, 8 years later at JBLM 🥹💙❤️💫🇵🇭🇺🇸 #seahawks #supportourveterans #filipinoamerican
