@ngreportstv: 🚨 Federico Valverde on why Real Madrid kept going after Mbappe made it 2–2 in Athens: “When Kylian scored, the first thing I wanted to do was go over to him. Then I saw Brahim getting ready to come on, and I thought, ‘He’s going to get ten minutes in this game. Let’s make sure they’re ten minutes where he can win it.’ “I remember sitting on the bench in my first years here, waiting for somebody to tell me to warm up. You’d spend most of the night thinking about what you could do if you got on. Then the board would go up and you’d look at the clock and think, ‘Is that all I’ve got?’ “After the game I said to Brahim, ‘You know you could’ve taken that yourself?’ “He said, ‘You were asking for it.’ “I said, ‘I ask for everything, Brahim. You don’t usually listen.’ “He said, ‘Well, you looked like you meant it this time.’ “I did. And I think that’s what made the celebration feel the way it did. Jude had already had one taken away from him and gone and scored another. We’d gone behind again and Kylian had got us level three minutes later. Brahim had come on with the game there for somebody to win. When the ball went in, everybody had a reason to be under that pile. “People have told us it’s just us and PSG still unbeaten. I’m proud of that. But I’m thinking more about the next European night when we’re a goal down and there’s a young lad on the bench waiting to hear his name. “He’s got this game in his head now. He’s seen Brahim come on with eight minutes of normal time left and help win it. When they call him over, he’ll be thinking about what he can do with those minutes. “I used to think I needed more time. At Madrid you learn how much you can do with the time you get.”
