@jallabar_hausa: We toured the ongoing reconstruction of Kano’s ancient city wall along the Sabuwar Kofa to Kofar Dan Agundi segment together with The ES of History and Culture Bureau, Mallam Ahmad Abba Yusuf. Nearly 1,000-year-old defensive structure that once protected the great commercial city of Kano. What stood out most was the deliberate choice to stick to the original method, makuba (the traditional locust-bean plaster) mixed with red sand/laterite, the same materials and techniques used by our ancestors centuries ago. The walls, started under Sarki Gijimasu Dan Warisi around 1095–1134 and completed in the 14th century, were once described as one of the most impressive monuments in West Africa. It’s encouraging to see this stretch being restored. #KanoCityWalls #Heritage #JallabarHausa
