yes exactly I was practically mute as a little girl and i had a mustache, thick glasses and everything. my personality hasn’t really changed since then but my appearance has done a 180 and the treatment is insanely different. halo effect is REAL

i wasn’t allowed to wear makeup in in high school, so i was basically invisible until 26 because i stopped caring about what my controlling mother thought about it. once i got good? i’ve never recieved so many compliments in my entire life. every day i get compliments on my hair, my skin, my makeup, my piercings. i still feel the neurodivergent ugly duckling sometimes, especially when it comes to more social moments.

It’s the appearance thing, but also many layers on top of all the other external sensory stimuli and all the internal thoughts and feelings. I’m like a computer with a million tabs open running so many programs all at once often on the verge of overheating and crashing out 😭 like ppl don’t get it.. smells sounds textures etc when I’m already dealing with a lot… neurotypicals really have a hard time understanding
