@cbsnews: Deb Haaland, a 35th-generation New Mexican from the Pueblo of Laguna, became the first Native American woman elected governor in a race against Republican Gregg Hull, a former mayor. The Democrat can now add first Native American female governor in U.S. history to the list of barriers she has broken. In 2018, Haaland was one of the first two Native American women elected to Congress. Then, she became the first Native American Cabinet secretary, running the Department of the Interior in 2021 during the Biden administration. #politics #us #NewMexico
