Maybe it’s because my mom was such a Barb but I can SO see both sides of her. She IS manipulative and toxic AF, BUT at the same time, she just asked her partner for a check in on their relationship. “Are you staying in the den?” And he just ignores the question. Barb is so triggering to me. My dad once had had an absolute meltdown because at 36 years old my husband and I moved to a different state because the military forced us to and I didn't ask his permission first. Apparently I'm a monster for taking my son (who he had only ever bothered to meet once) with me and away from him. He also told me I wasn't allowed to have my birth certificate or social security cards because they were his property since I'm his child.

He's already pulling away from her in such a bad way. Staying in another room, not talking about it, changing the topic. Leaving when the talking he did do turns uncomfortable.
