My husband and I lived in a house in Swedesburg, which is north of KOP right near the Schuylkill River. The Continental army marched along the Schuylkill River on their way to/from Philadelphia. We found a Revolutionary War era cannon ball and a bullet cup buried in our backyard. The house is right around the corner from Old Swedes Church. George Washington did attend services there.

Wild that the historical tavern before it was moved it sat smack dab in the middle of the busy intersection right before the mall. Like RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE. The highways were circled around it.

I had always been told that the tavern was called the Inn of the King of Prussia and that that was where a lot of correspondence was sent to so that’s how the town became known as King of Prussia because that’s where the mail was sent. I’m not sure if that’s true or not, but that’s what I always heard.

George Washington and his soldiers were freezing in 1776 so they went to the KOP MALL food court for supplies/ canoes to cross the Delaware and America was born… I hope that historic Mall never closes
