Cassava came from the Amazon region of South America, particularly areas of present-day Brazil, including Mato Grosso, Rondônia and Acre. Indigenous communities domesticated cassava from wild relatives of the plant thousands of years ago, around 5,000–7,000 BCE. I’m from the Caribbean 🇹🇹 learnt this many years ago.
