@moviegrid: Natalie Portman’s head was shaved for real in V for Vendetta (2006). There was exactly one take. Director James McTeigue ran three cameras simultaneously because once the clippers touched her hair, there was no going back. To make sure nothing went wrong, crew members volunteered to have their own heads shaved first to test the clippers. Portman’s personal hairdresser Jeremy Woodhead was brought in to do the shaving on camera. Portman later said the biggest stress wasn’t losing her hair. It was knowing she had one chance to deliver the performance while it happened. “It’s very rare to be experiencing something in real life at the same time as your character.”
