@miriamezagui: Replying to @jessica.m777 Wine is an integral part of Jewish observance but it can also be substituted for grape juice if someone cannot or doesn’t not want to drink wine.

What if someone does not want to drink alcohol? Can they do the wedding ceremony or other rituals without alcoholic wine?

A JW can bank their own blood for future use -surgery. You aren't allowed to accept another's blood in any case. This applied to my life when my father, a lifelong Jehovah's Witness, need a heart repair. There's typically a need for several pints of banked blood. He refused the surgery and he died from heart failure a couple years later. If he could've had a planned procedure & banked blood, we might've had him a little while longer. It seems like a harsh punishment for G_d to ask us to sacrifice our lives when he gifted us w science & know how. 🤷♀️

I work with a Jehovah's witness they have a no blood card so it doesn't sound to me as if Jehovah's are allowed to have blood I will ask him when I work with him again

People think you can’t be religious and drink. Jesus turned the water into wine. He loved a good drink.

As an orthodox christian, wine is also a part of many of our ceremonies, including matrimony as well as the eucharist. I always find it odd that some break of christian groups don’t drink wine when that tradition is in part inherited from judaism, and Christs first miracle was turning water into wine
