@r2reports: Separatists in a Pakistani province roughly the size of Montana have been fighting to break away for 20 years. Now women are attacking military camps in embroidered dresses. The province is Balochistan, in southwestern Pakistan. Footage circulating November 4 shows a woman firing a machine gun from a mud wall at what the rebels describe as a Pakistani military camp. The Balochistan Liberation Front announced its women’s combat unit in September. For years, women have marched demanding the return of relatives allegedly taken by security forces. Mahrang Baloch, who helped lead those protests, has been jailed since March 2025. An anti-terrorism court sentenced her to life in June over a soldier’s death during a protest. Human rights groups have challenged the fairness of her trial. The rebels argue that peaceful protest has become impossible. Their women’s unit is named after Karima Baloch, an activist who fled Pakistan and was found dead near Toronto’s waterfront in December 2020. Toronto police said her death was non-criminal and that they found no suspicious circumstances. #Pakistan #Balochistan #PakistanArmy #War #WorldNews #Geopolitics
