@twoparentsandapod: Someone asked us if all the talking to Tate has “paid off” and the answer is a very loud YES 🤌 What we didn’t expect?? Fewer tantrums (ok we need to do more research into this BUT...) when she CAN tell us what she wants (I play, I want to play), she doesn’t have to melt down to be heard. Fellow parent yappers, is this your experience too?? 👇 #twoparentsandapod #toddlermom #parenting #toddlerlife #momlife
It’s so interesting she talks to them all the time yet Tate seems behind in speech. I’ve been an early childhood teacher for 40 years and girls talk early! Tate seems behind in this area.

Girl I accidentally did this, I’m a yapper, I’m ALWAYS yapping, it’s the number one complaint, anyways I always yapped at my babies, and it definitely paid off.

You are a talker. So like I said before, she has a huge grasp of language.

silence is underrated. let the child have moments of processing and leading the communication

I liked how you called to them too because it wasn’t baby talk and that allows them to hear the words correctly. Less chance of speech problems. Kudos!

This is so important. I have always had conversations with my kids from the time they were born. At the supermarket and they are in the carrier “should we get red peppers or orange peppers? Red, yes I agree that’s a great choice” and now I have children with an amazing grasp on language, they all CONVERSE at a higher level than their age.

I didn't realize how much I talked to my kids until I was telling my youngest how to do something when he was around three years old and he said "I already know Mom, you tell me all the time". I asked him what he meant and he said "every time you do something with us or for us, you talk to us about it." All of my kids had an extensive vocabulary and were well spoken (full sentences, able to have a conversation) at 2 years old. Talk to your kids like they're adult from birth, it makes a huge difference.

That would be overwhelming. Maybe have some silence. 😳 Do you realize that not everyone can handle that much in fed.

Our girl (Alex) is a born and bred yapper! And imagine how different this world would be if we all actually worked on our communication?!

Of course you talk to your children. Who doesn’t? This is way too much overthinking.

I am 49 years old and I have two daughters that are now 22 and 24 and I would always talk to them when they were in my belly when they came out I would read to them. I would sing to them. Some people around me back, then thought it was crazy. It is so important! I am now a grandma and I do the same thing. It is so important to talk to you, babies and toddlers! That is how they learn language that’s how they learn really just to be humans!

Talking to your children is wonderful. But sometimes they need a break. Just to go into their own world, learn how to think independently.

Children understand way more than they can speak. Adults, too, understand more about than they can explain.
