@pierresubehofficial: Did the people on the Palm Beach Learjet feel pain? Here’s what science can tell us, and what it can’t. This is the real emergency call from the Learjet 60 that crashed in Palm Beach County on 1 November. At 35,000 feet, the crew told Miami they were managing the ice in moderate turbulence, and asked to climb. Seconds later, the jet was going down. A normal descent is about 2,000 feet a minute. The FAA says this jet fell 26,000 feet in about one. That’s the height of the Eiffel Tower every two and a half seconds. In cloud, the inner ear can be fooled about which way is down. If the G-forces were strong, studies of pilots show the body can black out in seconds, painlessly. If the cabin lost pressure (no one has said it did), oxygen loss at that height can take away awareness in tens of seconds, without pain. At impact, the fastest pain nerves carry signals at about 30 meters a second. The brain needs a tenth of a second or more to register. Some researchers argue the end of a crash this fast may be too quick to feel. What they felt, no one can know. What we know is how they were loved. Learjet88 :
I am a Learjet pilot. I think the problem was there before the Florida accident. It’s because they reported the same plus and minus 700 feet six months ago. The jack screw is a problem in this aircraft. The weather probably made the pitching worse and this removed the tail.
