⬇️ READ HER STORY ⬇️ Today while volunteering at the shelter, I walked past a kennel with a dog looking so sad inside. I looked at her kennel card and saw her name was Nina. Nina is a 3-year-old Boxer/Pitbull mix who arrived at the shelter as a stray with identification on September 29…She has been waiting for over a month now 😔 How does a dog get lost from her home, wearing a collar with her phone number and identification, and still nobody comes looking for her? She looked so sad, and I was determined to make her day a little better. I took her out for a walk, and little by little, she started trusting me. She was the sweetest girl. Then I decided to dress her up in a bumblebee costume. I read that bumblebees are magnificent creatures. They can carry up to 300 times their own body weight. But unlike a bumblebee, Nina cannot carry the weight of being left behind. Every day, Nina wonders why she was let go and why her family never came looking for her. When I brought out her costume, she became the happiest girl. She was walking around, so excited, and so many people stopped to say hello. She literally had the best 30 minutes of her day. But unfortunately, it always ends the same way. After 30 minutes, we were both reminded that I am just a volunteer and Nina is living in a shelter. And the heartbreaking reality is that I had to bring her back to her kennel. She licked my nose a few times, and I kissed her on the head. Almost as if she was thanking me for spending time with her. And I was thanking her for being the sweetest girl. Before I left, I promised Nina that I would do my best to find her a new family. A family who would love her and make sure she never has to spend another day alone. Please help me keep my promise. ❤️ #dog #story #sad #rescue #adopt
