The fog is from a prophet who is not sure where he will go after death. Not being sure if one is forgiven creates constant and present stress, anxiety fog and a perpetual feeling of inadequacy. Thus one is occupied with placating Allah through respectively seeking his forgiveness daily. The fog goes away and comes back daily. Another prophet doesn't have fog because he never sinned. He said to his followers - "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." This is what removes the fog, stress and anxiety permanently - the assurance of Janna
