That's so important. After my mom died, I left the memory care center, after the hospice nurse said she would stay until the funeral home had collected her body. At home I looked on the security camera footage from Mother's room and watched the funeral home guy collect her. It was so hard to see her face covered, but he was gentle with her, and I was so grateful.

Alittle off topic but something people should know. My dad died in hospice. When the coroner got there he said to me “you don’t want to see this” meaning putting his body in the bag on the gurney and taking him out. I had parked in the rear of the building, not the main parking lot because it was a lot closer to my dad’s room. I went to my car and sat there for a bit getting myself together. The corner wheeled my dad out right in front of my car. The white nondescript van was 2 cars over. I’ll never forget that image. Bottom line is be mindful not parking in the main parking lot. You might see things you don’t want to. I wish someone would have mentioned that to me instead of “ you can park closer to your dad’s room by parking in the lot behind the hospice.” Maybe it’s a me thing but I could have done without seeing that. I wouldn’t have parked there if I had been told that’s where decedents are picked up from and to be mindful of that if choosing to park there.

I’ve seen both a pillow and I seen them pick up deceased with one of those head blocks which to me seems “cold” I think the pillow is a good choice!!

it was disturbing to me when the funeral home dropped my sister right in front of me I can still see her eyes looking at me. it made me cry harder 😢

I have a problem with FHs that cut ALL folks clothes they’re getting dressed. I consider it rather disrespectful to do that. We only cut when it’s needed to make smaller clothes fit.

I always tried to make them look comfortable on the cot incase the family still needs a moment with them. Also for the sake of who wants to be uncomfortable even in the afterlife
