Our Snow Project started as a joke. ❄️ ☃️We had just wrapped our @futuresocietyofficial Wandering Rain fragrance with @michaelnordstrandperfumer and while we were snowed in during February’s blizzard, I texted him: what if we did snow next? It was not part of the plan. But the idea took on a life of its own, and we are so glad we went with it. So when we dug out the next day, we scooped snow off our office balcony and brought it into the lab. Five microbes grew. One of them was pink. (Ok, carotenoids aren’t technically sunscreen. They’re UV-protective and antioxidant. But you get it. 🤓) And two of them did something really unusual. A little love story. This is the story behind Snow Beginnings, the newest chapter of our Skyland Collection. It’s the scent of what we found in snow, brought to life by perfumer Michael Nordstrand. It’s crystallized rose, lychee, sake, reindeer moss and soft woods. It’s an unexpected take on snow and yet totally the familiar snow you know. Every time we look closely at nature, it turns out to be more interesting than we imagined.
