@conscious.app: French company Murena now sells Google-free phones for people ditching Big Tech. In 1998, founder Gaël Duval created Mandrake Linux, one of the first free alternatives to Windows built for regular people. In 2017 he went looking for a phone that didn't track him, couldn't find one, and decided to build his own. That became /e/OS, a version of Android, the software on most non-iPhones, without Google's apps or tracking. Most Android apps still work, and Murena replaces Google's email, calendar and cloud storage with its own. Its code is open source, so anyone can verify it isn't tracking you, and Murena sells refurbished phones and repairable Fairphones. In 2021, Irish and Scottish university researchers found that idle Android phones from Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei and Realme kept sending data to their makers and Google. The /e/OS phone sent almost nothing. It also blocks trackers hidden inside apps and can show apps a fake location. The Murena 2 even has a switch that physically cuts off the camera and microphone. GrapheneOS, a rival privacy system, says /e/OS falls behind on security updates, which Murena disputes. And the Fairphone it sells starts at $649 in the US. Google has paid over $1.8 billion to settle claims that it tracked people's locations, collected face and voice data without consent, and much more. I found Murena as an ethical alternative to Google using the Conscious Spend app. It helps you find alternatives to unethical brands in almost any industry, from clothing and tech to beauty and much, much more. Wait wait wait wait, what if AI helps us create more/better OS options and we can choose whatever hardware we want as a phone and diversifies mobile again

I am creating RoundUs 🫣🫣🫣 and I started with ethical rules even before coding...🫣🫣 Hopefully it'll be out soon... (I am a victim too of corporations taking profits and calling us "independent contractors" to not pay what we deserve)
