![Matthew McConaughey (04.11.1969) is an Academy Award winning actor and author from Texas. He broke out in Dazed and Confused, won the Oscar for Dallas Buyers Club, and starred in Interstellar. He wrote the memoir Greenlights, teaches at the University of Texas at Austin, and started the Just Keep Livin Foundation with his wife. His career was never simply about being a leading man. After romantic comedies like The Wedding Planner, he chose harder roles, from Magic Mike to True Detective. The shift began with a habit he learned long before Hollywood. One of the strongest ideas in his story starts with a Saturday morning when he was twelve and could not get the lawnmower started. In his house, saying “I can’t” got you in trouble. He told his father anyway, and his father walked outside, worked on the mower for about ten minutes, and said, “You were just having trouble.” The difference, as his father explained it, is that can’t means there is no solution, while having trouble means there is a way you have not found yet. McConaughey took away that even if you cannot do something alone, you can go find help. He says those words still make him look over his shoulder if they slip out. Next time you hear yourself say you can’t, check the engine before you walk away from the mower. There is usually a way, and you are probably just having trouble. #motivation #mindset #discipline #inspiration #success [Motivation] [mindset] [Discipline] [inspiration] [success]](/video/cover/7704408060256636180.webp)
