Get your boyfriend to give you a play-by-play of exactly what they do. How many parties, who will be there, what kinds of gift exchanges are traditions, etc. based on that info plan to have him take you shopping 2-3x to pick out gifts for all the people who will likely give you a gift with his advice on what to get and at what price point.

Do you know Christmas songs? In college we hosted a party near Christmas with friends and were singing Christmas carols. We had a Jewish friend there, though, and he literally didn’t know any, which was kind of shocking to us (a bunch of mostly atheists who grew up celebrating Christmas). We switched it up to Beatles songs and still had a great time!

varies wildly from family to family, but DEFINITELY accept any gifts offered and bring one for the host at least will probably be the best path

If you’re allowed to them accept to gifts she’ll probably still get you stuff especially if she’s from the south my mom says Christmas is canceled every year because we’re all poor and grown and she does the MOST every year

I think saying “oh no need to get me anything” is totally fine and polite but they’re def gonna get you something . You should get something specifically from you to the hosts . And then your bf should pick out the gifts for the rest of his family and put your name on the card too

I also did this years ago but went to Denmark as an American, where their celebrations are very different. Go in with multiple outfit options so you feel prepared no matter what happens, bring some cozy dessert (bonus points if it’s a Jewish treat), and 100% get everyone who will attend the morning festivities a small gift

You need to bring a gift for everyone who will be there Christmas morning. Hope it’s not a big family!
