I have not taught in a long time but I still have a letter a 2nd grader wrote to me. It says, “we had to stay inside today because it snowed. A new teacher came to town. I love her.” I re-read it and my heart bursts open!

I am 44. My 4th grade teacher did a science experiment where she cored a potato (with an apple corer) and stuck an almond in the center peice as a wick. She then lit the “wick” on fire for a few seconds, blew it out, and ate the “candle”… before explaining the science. It truly fueled my love of learning. Elem ed teachers are amazing!!!!!

I can’t imagine being a teacher, especially today. You are amazing and everyone needs to know what it’s like to teach kids in a classroom today. I wish you the best!

I had a DAY today, too. Then I got a message from a grandma of a former student telling me her grandson got 100% in both jazz and concert band in his new private high school. She thanked me for helping him find his passion and for being such a great teacher. 😭 ❤️
