Wiener will become the first openly gay congressperson to represent San Francisco. While 164,000 ballots remained to be counted, the latest tally from the Department of Elections on Wednesday afternoon did not show a significant gain for Chan, with a gap of 55.5% to 44.5% remaining in favor of Wiener.
