@melodic_facts: 🚨 A heartbreaking tragedy has shaken the Bella Coola community in British Columbia after a suspected grizzly bear attack left a 48-year-old mother dead and her 19-year-old daughter missing. The victims have been identified by family members as Jennifer Balcarras, 48, and her daughter Selah Reed, 19. The two went for what was supposed to be a casual walk along the Snooka West Trail on Saturday afternoon. When they failed to return, their family reported them missing on Sunday. Jennifer’s remains were discovered on Monday. The search for Selah is still ongoing, although her family fears she did not survive. Jennifer was a local art therapist and a mother of four. Her family remembers her as a talented artist, musician and nature lover. Selah shared her mother’s passion for art, ballet and hiking. “Two peas in a pod,” her brother said, describing the close bond between mother and daughter. B.C. Conservation Officers are investigating the suspected attack and have set traps in an effort to locate the bear. No bears have been captured so far. Authorities say that if a captured bear is confirmed to be responsible, it will be euthanized to protect public safety. The tragedy is particularly concerning because Bella Coola was also the scene of a grizzly bear attack last year, when several children and teachers were seriously injured on a hiking trail. The Nuxalk Nation says the incident will have a profound impact on the victims’ family, survivors of last year’s attack and the wider community. A devastating reminder of how quickly an ordinary walk outdoors can turn into a nightmare. #tiktok #GrizzlyBearAttack #bc #Canada #WildlifeSafety
