This week I was talking to a therapist about what Pelvic Floor Momma is all about. And as soon as I said “pelvic floor,” her response was… “I don’t get why pelvic floor is this big phenomenon now. It’s like back in the day when everything was about core.” And while I understand why she might think that, THIS is exactly where so many misconceptions begin. Because your pelvic floor is NOT just your core. And doing more sit-ups, planks, bird dogs, or kegels isn’t automatically going to: ❌ Stop you from peeing yourself when you sneeze ❌ Help you push more effectively during birth ❌ Make sex pleasurable instead of painful ❌ Teach your body how to manage pressure when you stand, lift, bend, or carry your baby Can strengthening your core help? ABSOLUTELY. But strength is only ONE piece of the puzzle. Your pelvic floor needs to know how to contract, relax, lengthen, coordinate with your breathing, AND respond to the demands of everyday life. And sometimes the answer isn’t MORE strengthening. Sometimes it’s learning how to LET GO. This is why statements like “it’s just your core” or “just do kegels” are so frustrating. Because they oversimplify something that affects nearly every aspect of a woman’s life. And when we oversimplify pelvic floor health, moms are left thinking they’ve tried everything when they haven’t even been taught the basics. That’s why I created Pelvic Floor Momma. I’m Becca, a PTA, former athletic trainer, mom of 2, and pelvic floor coach. I teach moms how to understand, support, and strengthen their pelvic floor through my B.S.R. Method: ✨ Basics: Understand how your pelvic floor actually works. ✨ Support: Learn how to support your pelvis during everyday movements. ✨ Restore: Build strength and stability that carries over into REAL LIFE. Because pelvic floor health isn’t a trend. It’s something women have deserved better education and support around for generations. And it’s about time we started treating it that way. ❤️ FOLLOW @pelvicfloormomma for pelvic floor education that goes beyond kegels, crunches, and being told your symptoms are just part of motherhood.
