UPDATE: SEARCH FOR JALAYSHIA “MALAYSHIA” ALFORD EXPANDS IN WEST PHILADELPHIA The search for 10-year-old Jalayshia “Malayshia” Alford intensified Wednesday, November 4, 2026, as investigators concentrated their efforts near Daggett and Vine streets in West Philadelphia. A large law enforcement presence gathered in the area as the search continued for the little girl, who was reported last seen nine days earlier. Authorities later cleared that search area Wednesday night after remains found there were identified as those of a dog. Jalayshia has not been located, and her whereabouts remain unknown. Philadelphia police and the FBI continue investigating her disappearance. Investigators have been gathering evidence, reviewing surveillance footage and working to establish a reliable timeline. Their efforts have included searches around the North Simpson Street home where Jalayshia lived in foster care, neighborhood inquiries and police dogs. Authorities are also sorting through conflicting accounts about when she was last seen and what happened before she was reported missing. Police list Jalayshia’s last reported sighting as approximately 7:30 a.m. on Monday, October 26, in the 500 block of North Simpson Street. She stands approximately 4 feet 11 inches tall, weighs about 70 pounds and wears glasses. She was reportedly wearing a blue school uniform consisting of a blue polo or button-up shirt, blue skirt, blue pullover and blue stockings, with either Crocs or black sneakers. Nine days without knowing where a 10-year-old child is are nine days too many. Her family is pleading for answers and hoping she will be brought home safely. Please keep sharing Jalayshia’s name and photograph. Someone may have information or camera footage that could help investigators find her.
