Ikea is appropriately priced. That doesn’t mean it’s affordable for all, but you can’t go much lower without major compromises with environmental and human rights concerns.

IKEA kept the cheap quality but raised the price. My $80 dresser fell apart in my car on the first move. Same one would be $200 now.

I bought a couple nightstands and dressers. Leave one drink on there without a coaster and the water will damage it. I knew they were going to be short lived going in but I didn’t expect them to damage that easily.

Hear me out. Kitchen items in IKEA is perfect for a setup. You can find inexpensive utensils and items for the kitchen at a cheaper price including and I'm going to hold back but food storage bags.

I don't have an ikea so relying on shipping probably saved me a few times. I've found a few small things like plastic garden tools handy and some small cabinets/organizers, but otherwise no

It used to be 😭 I used pax wardrobes (with so many drawer/shelf add-ons) and a hemnes tv stand to create built ins in the dining room at my old house for $1,000. Now I can barely get one of the cabinets for $1,000.

The prices have gone up a lot over the past few years just like everything else. I have quite a few pieces from IKEA that are over 10 years old and still look really good. I can’t really say they have poor quality.

the best place for me is marketplace. someone sold me a barely used malm full bed and an $800 wayfair desk for $60. I dont ask questions and act fast

I 1000% prefer being able to touch the items and see how they’re styled in the store vs getting cheaper stuff on amazon or wayfair

I never saw them as affordable. I had to furnish my current apartment completely due to a bad break up where I left with just what I could pack into bags. IKEA was a joke. I managed to furnish my entire apartment through Amazon for a fraction of the cost of their stuff and it's all the same plywood crap they sell and with better instructions 😂

The wooden bowls ppl use to make their coffee tables are the same price of a coffee table from Walmart.

it actually still has very affordable options compared to other retailers, where else are you gonna find glassware & plates for $1, or silverware sets of 16 for $8
