@australiancommunist: The Democratic Republic of Afghanistan,[a] later known as the Republic of Afghanistan, was the left-wing-led Afghan state from 1978 to 1992. It was bordered by Pakistan to the east and south, by Iran to the west, by the Soviet Union to the north, and by China to the northeast. Established by the People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan (PDPA) following the Saur Revolution in April 1978, it came to rely heavily on the Soviet Union for financial and military assistance and was therefore widely considered to be a Soviet satellite state. The PDPA's rise to power is seen as the beginning of the ongoing Afghan conflict, and the majority of the country's years in existence were marked by the Soviet–Afghan War. It collapsed by the end of the First Afghan Civil War in April 1992, having lasted only four months after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. #communism #socialism #womensrights #fyp #viral

In Afghanistan during the socialist era, only Kabul was modern and feminist, the rest of the country was the same as today and attempts to give women rights turned into bloody clashes with the Afghan army

This is hilarious a privileged white man making edits on a gov that oppressed the afghan people and mostly shows bourgeois individuals in those cities, most of the Afghan population was extremely religious and rural, the brutal Atheistic government and attempt of centralization destroyed the government (Along with the kidnappings and torturing of local afghans), later on an uprising would happen the Soviet would intervene, My grandfather told me the horrors he saw, people being rounded up and killed, Women adn children, women being 🍇. I can go on but idealizing this government disgusts me so much, you don't know how horrible it was, my Grandfather knows, he knows it by his own experience. I understand that the Taliban government is horrible but please do not idealizing this on. especially as a communist.
