Sometimes a reason to try something new comes from seeing someone else give it a chance. I recently watched another ARFID creator try cheddar sour cream Pringles. He shared that he likes the sour cream and onion flavor, so his wife suggested he try her favorite, cheddar sour cream. Since Hannah also eats sour cream and onion Pringles, I thought it might be fun for her to try them and then compare their thoughts. I didn’t tell her what he thought beforehand because I wanted her to have her own experience without his opinion influencing what she expected. Everyone with ARFID is different, but I’ve noticed that some people share similar sensory preferences and have safe foods in common. That doesn’t mean they’ll have the same response to something new, but it can offer ideas they might feel curious about exploring. Hannah ended up liking them, which made this even more exciting! But the flavor wasn’t the only thing that stood out to me. She currently only eats her sour cream and onion Pringles from one specific type of packaging. Trying this flavor meant trying Pringles from different packaging, too, and that was another meaningful part of this experience. Maybe this will help her feel more comfortable exploring her usual flavor in other package sizes someday. For now, I’m happy she found a fun reason to try something new, formed her own opinion, and discovered something she enjoyed. #fyp @Pringles
