@daddysbike: The northern white rhino is now one of the rarest animals on Earth, with only two individuals remaining. These two survivors are a mother and daughter named Najin and Fatu, living at Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya. 🦏 Their population once roamed across Central Africa, but decades of illegal poaching, habitat loss and armed conflicts pushed the subspecies to the brink of extinction. In 2018, Sudan, the last known male northern white rhino, died, leaving only Najin and Fatu. With no surviving males and neither female able to reproduce naturally, the subspecies is considered functionally extinct. Scientists are now using advanced reproductive technology and IVF to bring them back from the edge of extinction. As of 2026, researchers have successfully created 39 northern white rhino embryos, keeping a small but precious hope alive.
