@debt.free.faster: Well, this is a bit frustrating. When I first started tracking our mortgage, we were projected to pay around $477,000 in interest over the life of the loan. We managed to bring that down to $470,000 through our extra repayments, but with another rate increase coming on Friday the 13th, our new projection is sitting at around $514,000. Ouch. It's a pretty big reminder that interest rate changes can have a huge impact, even when you're doing everything you can to get ahead. We're not giving up on our goal of paying off our mortgage within the next 10 years. We'll just keep chipping away and doing what we can. The reality of documenting a mortgage payoff journey is that not every update is going to be good news! #AustralianMortgage #MortgageInterest #InterestRateRise #PayOffMortgageEarly #DebtFreeJourney

I honestly gave up on mine because it was too disheartening hahaha. Felt like all the work is done was useless. I know it wasn’t, but it’s hard not to feel that way. Maybe I’ll try again one day 😂

Ngl we were guttered when we did our tracker. Over the year we’ve lost $220000 in interest savings. 😭

Wow. When you put it into perspective like this, it really shows much but it actually sets us all back.
