I think it’s also because they’ve always stayed the same since we were kids. In a world where everything’s constantly changing, they just feel like a comforting link to the wonder we felt when seeing them in childhood and it takes us out of ourselves for a moment…

Out of the blue just before we watched fireworks at the weekend, my 6 year old asked if his Nanny will get to see the fireworks too (she passed away before he was born but he talks about her often) I said oh sweetie she gets the best view of all way up in the clouds. My heart 🥺
