referred to a skinship, it's a display of how much someone means to you as a friend. friends are the family you choose to have in your life.

Deeply loving your friend is okay but God forbid you kiss them

Yep I’m in Beijing rn, moved here for work. Straight people hold hands, gay couples hold hands. Nobody is minding your business except yourself, it’s wonderful 🩷

It's different, I know, but I studied abroad in Mexico and a group of similarly aged friends sort of adopted me. The little embraces and kisses, signifying nothing more than friendship, made me realize how awful the isolation is in the U.S. where every touch is seen as sexual.

Yup, in china it’s a friendship thing. I had people holding my hand and i had to fight the urge to pull my hand away because i know they were just trying to show friendship

Same in India, many countries in Asia and also in many countries in Africa. It’s very cute and innocent. When I first saw it we were with a group of men going to a place and they were just holding to each other by a finger or two just to not get separated if one was talking on the phone or distracted. It made me think of otters 🦦 holding hands to stay together and not get separated.

on the flip side, countries like japan, china, and even korea allow these kinds of skinship in public between the same genders bc the idea of them being gay is totally ostracized.

This is a thing in Korea as well. Wherever I go, there would be same sex people holding each other's hands. This is common among Korean friendships

No wonder they live so long. It’s been proven to have healing effects, and can lessen the effects of pain to hold the hand of someone who you love, but even holding the hand of a stranger showed marked benefits and reduction of pain symptoms

In some Middle-Eastern cultures, having s business conversation in public/while walking its normal to hold hands as a way of saying "We are having an important conversation"

I do this but I'm legally blind so one of my friends had to guide me like a service animal 😔 I think I got some attention when I said "Thank you for your service".
