Probably.Not.Chris :
On people who aren't there for the comedy
Went to see Kevin Bridges in Nottingham on Sunday night, we popped into a neighbouring bar just before going in, and unbeknownst to anyone, there was a Disability Visibility comedy night on with several rows of chairs facing the stage (£12 entry) and when we got there two what seemed like absolute novices, potentially first-timers, and a professional comic headliner at the end.
Unfortunately, a couple of hundred people (including us, came in for free) who were on their way to see Kevin Bridges and didn't know anything was on, so talked all the way through.
Nothing in the venue suggested anything was on that night, and it was just really rude that weren't even facing the stage and just talked amongst themselves, So it's not strictly their fault as they're not there for that and didn't even know anything was on.
The headline comic, Alistair Barrie, brilliantly had a go at the venue and the Disability Visibility comedy festival organisers. He absolutely skewered them, and I hope they've took notice of what a shambles they ran.
Those first two comics I saw couldn't have had a tougher gig and I hope they're not put off by it.
