The Irish plantations start under James. The highland clearances were done by Scottish lairds. Half the governor generals of India were Scottish. Half the the board of the honourable East Indian company were Scottish

Scotland does have a history of fighting off English invasions trying to put them under English rule u said Scotland was never colonised true because we fought them off then later on we joined them n colonised too both sides of the story is true

it's a little more complicated then that. the majority of the Scottish people were not colonised, however those living up in the Highlands and islands were, but mostly by the lower lying Scottish. but even still nowhere near the same extent of exploitation and control as with irleland or Wales.

Scotland absolutely experienced English invasion, occupation and attempts at conquest. Just look at William Wallace, who fought against Edward I after England invaded Scotland in 1296 and attempted to take control of the country. Scottish culture and the Gaelic language were also heavily suppressed, with children punished for speaking their own language in schools.

It's not as black and white as were or weren't. The Scots commuted abhorrent crimes of empire but at the same time had their language and culture suppressed, the highland clearances going on etc. History is rarely black or white.

I went to Edinburgh coz I loved the idea of Scotland, always thought of them as cousins (i'm irish) and when I was there I learned so much about what they contributed to in Irish suppression and I was like "oh. . .ohhhhh" and now I realise it's the Welsh that have the closer relation
