I could make these so much faster by myself… but then I'd miss out on the best part. The little hands helping measure ingredients, the excitement of rolling chocolate truffles, and the pride on her face when she knows SHE helped make something delicious! Because bringing our children into the kitchen isn't just about teaching them to cook. It's about building confidence, creating memories, and passing down skills they'll use for a lifetime. Comment NOURISH and I'll send you the Nourished Home System, which includes 200+ family-favorite recipes AND 30+ visual recipes designed to help children learn their way around the kitchen! Today my 4-year-old and I made these delicious little treats! CHOCOLATE ORANGE HOLIDAY TRUFFLES Makes 16–20 truffles Ingredients: - 1 cup packed, pitted Medjool dates (10–12 large) - ½ cup almond flour - ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder - 1 tbsp melted coconut oil - 1 tsp freshly grated orange zest - 1 tbsp freshly squeezed orange juice - ½ tsp vanilla extract - Pinch of sea salt Optional: Cocoa powder or shredded coconut for rolling. Instructions: 1. Add the pitted dates and remaining ingredients to a food processor. 2. Blend until a thick, fudgy dough forms that holds together when pressed. 3. Roll into 16–20 bite-sized balls. 4. Coat in cocoa powder or coconut, if desired. 5. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to firm up. No baking, naturally sweetened with dates, and perfect for little kitchen helpers! Someday, I hope my children remember that they were always welcome in the kitchen, even when their help made things a little messier. Because the skills we teach them today are the ones they'll carry into their own homes someday. Follow along for more from-scratch family recipes, intentional homemaking, and practical ways to get your kids involved in the kitchen!
